Venus Fly Trap Tote Bag
Venus Fly Trap Tote Bag
This tote bag is the first product in our Conserve our Native Plants product line, featuring the Venus' Fly Trap (Dionaea muscipula), a carnivorous plant native to the Carolinas. Venus' Fly Traps are facing extinction due largely to habitat destruction, fire suppression, and illegal poaching. The fly trap is currently conserved by The North Carolina Botanical Garden.
We are donating a portion of sales from each tote bag to the Center for Plant Conservation.
Conserve our Native Plants is a collaboration with the Center for Plant Conservation, Lianne Pflug (@loonpflug), and B.Willow to promote awareness of native US plants facing extinction the wild.
Designed by Lianne Pflug. Organic canvas tote bag with reinforced handle, 14.5"x 14"x 3." Printed with water-based ink.
The Venus Fly Trap tote bag is the first product in our new collaborative line, Conserve our Native Plants: a B.Willow product line created in partnership with the Center for Plant Conservation and artist Lianne Pflug to support native North American plants threatened with extinction in the wild. A portion of sales from all products sold is donated to the Center for Plant Conservation, who then distributes funds directly to the institutions conserving the plants.
We first learned about plant poaching and its overlap with the houseplant industry in 2018, which inspired us to get more involved with plant conservation- we see a lot of opportunity within the houseplant community to create more awareness of the challenges facing plants in the wild, and to help raise money for plant conservation.
Our belief is that the sale of plants for our homes should benefit imperiled plants in the wild.
B.Willow is working directly with CPC and interested host institutions to select plants for this product line. Ideally these plants are still in need of CPC sponsorship at the time of selection.
